MyTransit Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2026
MyTransit ("MyTransit", "we", "us", or "our") provides you ("User", "you", or "your") with access to our mobile application(s) ("App"), our website at https://MyTrans.it, as well as any other sites operated by MyTransit (collectively, "Site" or "Sites"), and associated public transit information and additional content. Together, these are referred to collectively as the "Service" or "Services".
MyTransit is committed to improving urban mobility. Our goal is to help people navigate public transit more easily, stay informed about service conditions, and access transit information and tools more efficiently. We take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and safeguard personal information when you access or use the Service.
Capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning given to them in our Terms of Service available at https://MyTrans.it/terms, which this Privacy Policy is incorporated into by reference (collectively referred to as the "Terms").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.
You are not required by law to provide any information to MyTransit; however, certain information may be necessary to provide specific features of the Service (for example, location-based features, subscription functionality, or support requests).
1. Types of information we collect
A. Information you provide to usWe may collect information that you choose to voluntarily provide when you interact with the Service, for example, when you create an account (if available), subscribe to MyTransit Plus, contact us for support, submit feedback, or personalize features. Registration may be optional; however, certain features may be unavailable or limited if you do not register or provide the information needed to enable them.
Depending on your interactions with the Service, you may provide: (a) account and registration information, such as your name, email address, username, and similar details; (b) transaction-related information, such as details associated with purchases, subscriptions, or offers (note that Apple, Google or other payment processors process payment transactions, and we generally receive purchase or subscription confirmation and related metadata and not your full payment card details); (c) information you provide when you contact us for Service related support, such as the content of your messages and any details you include in support requests; and (d) information you enter into the Service while using it, such as preferences and other user-entered information.
If you choose to personalize the Service, you may also provide information such as saved places or addresses (for example, home address, work address, frequent destinations, or other favorite places), and information about public transit lines, stops, stations, and routes you save, follow, search for, or frequently use. We use this information to provide the Service, enhance your experience (for example, by showing relevant transit options), and support personalization features you enable.
You may also choose to share additional content through the Service, such as text, images, reviews, feedback, reports regarding transit data, or other content you submit intentionally. If the Service includes interactive features such as chat, surveys, or feedback prompts, we may collect the information you choose to submit through those features. If we offer promotions, raffles, contests, or similar programs, we may collect the information you provide to administer the program (including contacting you and delivering a prize, where your choices) and, where required, to send marketing communications consistent with your choices.
We may use the information you provide to communicate with you about the Service (including important notices, required disclosures, security messages, and updates). Where permitted by law and consistent with your settings and choices, we may also send news and promotional communications.
B. Information collected automaticallyWe may automatically collect certain information in order to: show transit and safety alert notifications; show relevant transit details; provide travel directions; determine navigation and routes; determine your current location and the city/metro area you are located within; display a location map and other relevant location-based information; determine your location relative to or within certain locations (including third-party locations); provide you with information when you enter or leave locations; personalize the user experience and content provided to you; improve the user interface; operate, maintain, and improve our services; provide user support, troubleshoot, secure, and operate the Service.
The Service may automatically collect information even if you are not logged in to the App or when you're not actively using the App, such as:
(a) device and technical information, including the type of mobile device you use, device make and model, device operating system (including version), App version, device settings (such as language, keyboard language, and time zone), screen resolution, mobile carrier or network, Wi-Fi connection, mobile web browser (if applicable), signal strength, temperature, battery level, and similar technical data;
(b) identifiers, including your IP address, mobile device identifiers, device token(s) used to support notifications, and advertising identifiers or similar identifiers, where available;
(c) App usage and activity information, including information about the way you use the Service and its features and functions, screens viewed, taps/clicks, session duration, in-app settings, feature usage, notification interactions, diagnostic and performance data, and error/crash logs. We may also collect information related to advertising shown in the Service and your interactions with it (such as ad impressions, clicks, and related engagement), as well as information about traffic to and from the Service and referral or attribution-related information where available;
(d) Location information. We may infer your general city/region location from your IP address. Separately, device location (approximate or precise) and related route or travel information is collected only if you (i) provide consent through the in-app consent prompt and (ii) enable location services and grant the App the applicable device permissions. If you allow precise location, this may include GPS-level location. When enabled, we use location to support the features you choose to use, such as nearby transit functionality, transit and safety alert notifications, routing and navigation, travel directions, determining your city/metro area, displaying maps and other location-based information, and (where applicable) providing contextual information related to your location. If you grant background location permission, we may collect device location when the App is not actively open. Depending on your device and permissions, the Service may also receive certain device sensor signals associated with location functionality (for example, motion-related signals used by the operating system to support location accuracy). You can disable and opt-out of device location collection at any time through (i) the in-app Privacy Settings screen, (ii) your device's app permissions for the App, and/or (iii) your device's location services settings (for example, turning off location services/GPS), though some features may not function as intended.
In addition, when you install the App or use the Service, we may generate or assign an identifier associated with your App installation (sometimes referred to as an "installation ID" or similar identifier) that helps us provide and operate the Service, maintain preferences, support subscriptions and other features, and perform analytics, security, and troubleshooting. This identifier may be linked with other information we collect, receive, infer, or otherwise generate in connection with the Service, as described in this Privacy Policy.
C. Information we receive from third partiesWe may receive information from third parties to provide and operate the Service. The information we receive depends on the third party involved, your device settings, and your interactions with the Service. For example, we may receive information from:
- App stores and payment processors. If you purchase a subscription (such as MyTransit Plus) or make other in-app purchases through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or other payment processors we may use to support subscriptions and billing, we may receive information needed to process and manage the purchase and subscription (for example, purchase confirmation, subscription status, renewal and expiration dates, and transaction identifiers). We generally do not receive your full payment card number from app stores or payment processors.
- Advertising, analytics, attribution, and measurement partners. We may receive information from advertising and measurement partners (including Google/AdMob and other advertising partners) about ad delivery and performance and how users interact with ads and the Service. This may include ad impressions, clicks, conversion or attribution-related information, and device or advertising identifiers and signals provided in accordance with applicable settings, platform requirements, and partner policies.
- Data and service partners. We may receive information from partners that provide services such as analytics, location-related functionality, or insights (for example, device signals and, where applicable, location-related insights). We use this information to provide, operate, support, and improve the Service and the features you enable. Certain partner-provided services may involve device location; we collect and share device location only with your consent where required, as described in this Privacy Policy.
- Transit agencies and data providers. We receive schedules, service alerts, vehicle locations, and other transit-related data from transit agencies and other providers. This transit data is generally not personal information, though it may be combined with Service usage information to deliver relevant content (for example, showing arrival times for a stop you view frequently).
- Other sources. We may receive information from other sources, such as when you interact with us through our customer support providers or platforms, participate in promotions, or when service providers help us prevent fraud, secure the Service, or perform troubleshooting.
We may combine information we receive from third parties with other information we collect, receive, infer, or otherwise generate about you, your device, or your use of the Service, consistent with this Privacy Policy.
D. Information we derive or inferWe may derive information or draw inferences based on the information we collect or receive in order to provide, personalize, and improve the Service, and for security, analytics, and troubleshooting. For example, we may infer or derive:
- General city/region based on your IP address (as described above).
- Transit-related preferences based on your in-app activity (for example, the routes you search for, the transit lines or stops you view or save, and your settings).
- Service usage insights such as whether certain features are frequently used, likely commute patterns, or the types of transit content that may be most relevant.
- Operational and security signals used to help protect the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot issues (for example, indicators related to device integrity, unusual activity patterns, or repeated errors), based on device and usage information.
Where we generate location-derived insights, we use them for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy (for example, to provide and operate location-related features, protect the Service, and comply with legal obligations).
2. How we use the information
We use the information we collect, receive, and derive to provide and operate the Service, support the features you request, maintain the security and reliability of the Service, support subscriptions and advertising, and comply with legal requirements. Certain uses depend on the features you use and the choices you make (see "Your Choices and Controls" below).
We may use personal information for the following purposes:
- Provide and operate the Service. To deliver transit functionality and content, maintain core app features, remember preferences, and provide Service features you request.
- Provide location-related features (when enabled). To support location-based experiences and functionality you choose to use, such as features that rely on knowing where you are to present relevant transit information, directions, or other location-related Service outputs.
- Maintain subscriptions, purchases, and entitlements. To administer MyTransit Plus and other purchases, confirm subscription status, provide access to paid features, prevent duplicate or invalid entitlements, and handle billing-related support.
- Customer support and communications. To respond to requests, troubleshoot issues, provide technical assistance, and send service-related messages (including updates, security notices, and required notices).
- Advertising, attribution, and measurement. To display ads, measure delivery and performance, manage frequency and reporting, support attribution/measurement, and detect invalid traffic or ad fraud.
- Analytics, testing, and improvement. To understand how the Service is used, debug and fix issues, evaluate performance, conduct internal analysis, develop and improve features, and improve reliability and accuracy.
- Safety, security, and integrity. To protect the Service and our users; detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents; and maintain the integrity of systems and operations.
- Compliance and enforcement. To comply with applicable law and lawful requests; maintain appropriate records; resolve disputes; enforce our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy; and protect our rights, users, and the public.
- Business operations and transactions. To support internal operations (such as finance, audits, governance, and reporting) and, if applicable, to evaluate or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Aggregated / de-identified information. Where permitted by law, to create and use aggregated and/or de-identified information for analytics, research, Service improvement, and other lawful purposes.
- Marketing (where permitted). To send or present information about Service updates, features, and promotions, where permitted by law. Where required, we will provide appropriate choices to opt-out of marketing communications.
If you are located in the EEA or the United Kingdom, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases, depending on the context and purpose:
- Performance of a contract: to provide and operate the Service you request, administer subscriptions/purchases, and provide support related to the Service.
- Consent: where we ask for it (for example, for certain location-based processing and/or certain advertising-related processing where consent is required). You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to secure and protect the Service, prevent fraud/abuse, maintain reliability, and improve the Service, subject to appropriate safeguards and your rights.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and recordkeeping obligations.
3. How we disclose the information
We may share information with the categories of recipients described below for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
A. Service providers (vendors processing on our behalf)We may share information with service providers, vendors and professional advisors (such as legal, accounting, and auditing) that help us operate, support, and improve the Service. These may include providers for hosting and infrastructure, data storage, customer support, communications, subscription management, fraud prevention, security monitoring, analytics, crash/error reporting, and similar operational services. These providers perform services on our behalf to help us operate, support, secure, and improve the Service.
B. Advertising partnersWe may work with advertising partners to help display ads and measure their performance on the Service. Depending on the integration, these partners may collect or receive information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, information about ad delivery and your interactions with ads (for example, impressions and clicks), and certain signals used for ad delivery (including interest-based advertising where permitted), measurement, attribution, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. These partners may use information for purposes such as:
- serving ads on the Service;
- measuring and reporting ad performance and attribution;
- limiting fraud and improving security; and
- supporting frequency capping and related ad delivery functions.
Some ad technology partners may use information they receive for their own purposes (for example, interest-based advertising across apps and sites, measurement, and analytics), subject to their privacy policies, your privacy choices on the Service, your device/platform settings, and applicable law. Under some U.S. state privacy laws, certain disclosures for interest-based advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. See "Your Choices and Controls" for options that may limit these uses.
C. Business partnersWhen you enable location and provide any required consent, we may share device and location information (including approximate or precise location) with select business partners, such as Foursquare. We may also work with other business partners depending on your device, region, and the version of the Service. These partners may receive information to:
- provide services to us, such as location-related functionality, measurement, attribution, analytics, or insights that help us operate, support, and improve the Service and the features you use; and/or
- use information for their own business purposes, which may include analytics products and services, market research, and interest-based advertising, and where permitted sharing certain information with their own partners, consistent with applicable law and their privacy policies.
We use contractual restrictions intended to limit inappropriate uses of location data, including restrictions designed to prevent the use or retention of location data associated with sensitive places (for example, places that could reveal health, religious, or similar sensitive characteristics), where applicable. We also provide in-app controls to limit certain location-related sharing, as described in "Your Choices and Controls."
D. Transit agencies, transit data providers, and operational partnersTo support transit-related operations and improve rider experiences, we may share aggregated, de-identified, or other non-personal insights (for example, trends about service performance or ridership patterns) with transit agencies and related partners for purposes such as service planning, reporting, and improving transit service.
E. Legal, safety, and business changesWe may disclose information:
- to comply with law or legal process, such as subpoenas, court orders, or other lawful requests;
- to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Service, our users, or others, including to investigate and help prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents; and
- in connection with a business transfer or change, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of part or all of our business/assets, where information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections and any notices required by law.
As permitted by applicable law, we may create and share aggregated and/or de-identified information for analytics, research, reporting, and product improvement. We maintain such information in de-identified form to the extent required by applicable law and do not attempt to re-identify it.
G. With your direction (optional features and integrations)If we offer optional features or integrations that share information with third parties at your request (for example, connecting the Service to another service), we will tell you what information is shared when you choose to enable or connect the feature. Those third parties handle the information under their privacy policies, and we encourage you to review those policies before enabling the feature.
4. Your choices and controls
We want you to have meaningful choices about how information is used and shared. Depending on your device, region, and the version of the Service, you may have some or all of the controls described below. Many of these controls are available in the Service's Privacy Settings screen, and some can also be managed through your device or platform settings.
A. Advertising choices- Ad Preferences / personalized ads (Privacy Settings) The Service includes an Ad Preferences control in Privacy Settings that lets you turn off personalized/interest-based advertising. If you turn personalized ads off, you should still see ads, but they may be less relevant. Depending on where you live, turning off personalized ads may be treated as an opt-out of certain activities that some U.S. state privacy laws describe as "targeted advertising" or "sale" / "sharing" of personal information.
- Device and platform advertising controls You can also control certain advertising features through your device or platform settings (for example, resetting or limiting use of your advertising identifier, or adjusting ad personalization settings). The options available depend on your device and operating system.
- Subscription option If you subscribe to an ad-free version of the Service (such as MyTransit Plus), we will not show ads in the subscribed experience. Certain information may still be processed as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to support your subscription.
- In-app Location control (Privacy Settings) The Service includes a control in Privacy Settings that lets you turn off location-related sharing with business partners. If you turn this control off, we will stop sharing device location (approximate or precise) and certain device information with partners going forward.
- Device permissions (foreground and background location) You can choose whether to allow the Service to access your device location. In many cases, your device allows you to grant foreground (while the app is open) and/or background (when the app is not in use) location permissions. You can change your permission choices at any time in your device settings.
- Separate consent for location-related sharing We do not treat a device location permission by itself as consent for location-related sharing with partners. Where required, we present a separate consent notice in the Service, and your choice is tied to the button or action you take in that notice.
Some browsers and devices support universal opt-out preference signals (such as browser-based signals). Where required by applicable law and technically supported for the Service, we will process such signals as a request to opt-out of certain advertising-related uses and disclosures. Not all signals work in all contexts (for example, a browser signal may not automatically apply within a mobile app environment), and implementation may vary by region and device.
D. Notifications and communicationsYou can control push notifications and alerts through in-app settings and your device settings. If we ever send optional promotional emails, you can opt out by using the unsubscribe link included in those messages.
E. Delete My Data (Privacy Settings)The Service provides a Delete My Data option in Privacy Settings (where available). When you use this option, we will take steps to delete personal information associated with your use of the Service, which may include:
- deleting user data stored on our servers that is associated with your device or installation;
- sending deletion requests to certain business partners for data associated with your device or installation; and
- deleting certain data stored locally on your device (such as favorites, recent history, and settings).
You can also submit a deletion request by contacting us at [email protected].
Please note: deletion of information not stored locally on your device may take some time and requires an internet connection. We may retain limited information where needed for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or to maintain the integrity of our records. For example, we may retain consent records associated with an installation ID. We may also retain or continue to use information in aggregated or de-identified form where permitted by law. Because aggregated or de-identified information is not intended to be linked to you, we may not be able to delete it on a per-user basis.
F. Other privacy requestsDepending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, or to object to or opt-out of certain processing. If you would like to submit a request other than using the in-app Privacy Settings controls described above, you can contact us using the methods described in the "Contact Us" section (and we may need to verify your request before responding).
5. Privacy rights depending on where you live
Privacy laws vary by location. Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights related to your personal information and how it is used or shared. These rights may also be subject to legal exceptions (for example, where we need to retain information for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance).

Where we rely on consent, you may also withdraw your consent for certain collection, use, or disclosure, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you are a resident of Québec, additional rights may apply under Québec's private-sector privacy law (as updated by Law 25).
C. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and SwitzerlandIf you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you may have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR (as applicable), including the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict the processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent. These rights are subject to conditions and exceptions under applicable law. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local protection authority.
If you are in Switzerland, you may have rights under Swiss data protection law (including the revised Federal Act on Data Protection), such as the right to access your personal information and request correction or deletion in certain circumstances, and the right to data portability where applicable, subject to conditions and exceptions under applicable law.
D. BrazilIf you are in Brazil, you may have rights (subject to conditions and exceptions) to: confirm whether we process your personal information and access it; correct it; request deletion or de-identification in certain cases; request data portability where applicable; request information about entities we share your information with; withdraw consent where we rely on consent and object to certain processing, where applicable.

We will respond to valid requests in accordance with applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
6. International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- comply with legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements; and
- protect the security and integrity of the Service, including fraud prevention, safety, and dispute resolution.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and why we collected it. You can also request deletion through the Delete My Data option described in "Your Choices and Controls", subject to the limited exceptions described there.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. Even with safeguards, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and no system can be guaranteed to prevent unauthorized access in all circumstances. We encourage you to use caution and take reasonable steps to protect your information (for example, by keeping your device secure and using up-to-date software).
9. Children's privacy
The Service is a general-audience transit and mapping service and is not directed to individuals under sixteen (16). You must be at least sixteen (16) years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under sixteen (16).
If we learn that we have collected personal information from an individual under sixteen (16), we will take steps designed to delete that information, subject to applicable law.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that an individual under sixteen (16) has provided us personal information, please contact us using the information in the "Contact Us" section.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the policy.
If we make material changes, we will take steps to provide notice consistent with applicable law, which may include posting an in-Service notice or other appropriate communication.
